In 1997, Sovereign Specialty Chemicals acquired Evode-Tanner as part of its acquisition of Laporte's North American adhesives, sealants and coatings business. Subsequent to Sovereign's acquisition, the company was renamed Tanner Chemicals. Tanner Chemicals currently operates as a subsidiary of Sovereign Specialty Chemicals, Inc.
