RagingWire and NTT Communications Open Dallas TX1 Data Center

RagingWire Data Centers, Inc. and its parent company NTT Communications (NTT Com) were joined by 500 business and civic leaders on April 19, 2017 to celebrate the opening of the Dallas TX1 Data Center, a 230,000 square foot facility designed to house computing systems of large enterprises and hyperscale cloud companies. The TX1 Data Center is engineered to meet the requirements of global enterprises, cloud providers and the unique conditions in the Dallas, Fort Worth metroplex, one of the top data center markets in the United States: 16 megawatts (MW) of power to support large-scale, high-density computing; Flexible private-suite configurations from 1 to 5 MW as well as multi-rack cages; Direct connection to major cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform; Fiber connectivity to carrier hotels and more than 120 area data centers and connected properties; Multiple onsite telecommunications providers; Extensive, multi-factor physical security, including perimeter fencing, video surveillance, access controls, and 7x24 onsite security officers; Highly efficient, waterless cooling system that leverages available outside cool air and does not stress local water supplies; Office space, conference rooms, and complimentary amenities including Wi-Fi, fitness room, and beverages; Designed and built to withstand an EF3 tornado of 136 mph; Part of NTT Com’s global data center platform, which comprises over 140 facilities in 19 countries under the Nexcenter(TM) brand. The Dallas TX1 Data Center, combined with data centers in Ashburn, Virginia and Sacramento, California, expands RagingWire’s data center capacity to 1.5 million square feet and 113 MW of power. In Ashburn, the world’s top data center market, the new VA3 Data Center which is under construction will join the VA1 and VA2 data centers for a total footprint of over 500,000 square feet of space and 44 MW of power. In Sacramento, an ideal Northern California data center location outside the earthquake zone of the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, RagingWire has 680,000 square feet of data center space and 53 MW of power with a compelling total cost of ownership (TCO) based on low-cost power provided by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

RagingWire Data Centers, Inc. and its parent company NTT Communications announced that NTT Com intends to purchase the remaining shares of RagingWire and acquire 100% ownership of the company. In addition, RagingWire named long-term RagingWire executive and current president, Douglas Adams, as CEO, and RagingWire's Founder, George Macricostas, who had served as Chairman and CEO of RagingWire, was named Executive Chairman. Douglas Adams joined RagingWire in 2001 as part of the early executive team that along with Founder George Macricostas led the growth of the company into a data center industry leader. Mr. Adams has held multiple executive positions at RagingWire leading sales, marketing, product, and operations, and served most recently as president of the company.
NTT Communications and RagingWire to Invest $160 Million in New Ashburn VA3 Data Center in the Heart of Data Center Alley

RagingWire Data Centers and NTT Communications announced that they are investing $160 million to build the new Ashburn VA3 Data Center in the heart of the famed ‘Data Center Alley’ in Ashburn, Virginia, the top data center market in the world. The Ashburn VA3 Data Center represents phase one of RagingWire’s massive Ashburn Data Center Campus development which can accommodate six buildings on the 76.5 acre site in Ashburn. The VA3 Data Center with 245,000 square feet of space and 16 megawatts of power, is scheduled to be available by the end of 2017. The VA3 Data Center joins RagingWire’s VA1 and VA2 data centers, which also are in Ashburn. The combination of VA1, VA2 and VA3 creates a data center footprint of over a half million square feet of space and 44.4 megawatts of power, and includes on-site security officers and multi-layered security systems, highly efficient cooling and carrier-neutral telecommunications, and direct connectivity to top cloud providers and other data centers in Data Center Alley. On a wider scale, VA3 will grow RagingWire’s existing 1.2-million-square-foot U.S data center platform, which includes CA1, CA2, and CA3 in Northern California and TX1 in Dallas, Texas, as well as NTT Com’s global data center services platform operated under the Nexcenter TM brand. The investment in the VA3 Data Center by RagingWire and NTT Communications is significant for the Virginia economy, not only for the jobs it creates, but also because it supports the exemption from the Virginia Sales and Use Tax on qualified equipment purchases by RagingWire and its customers. This exemption has resulted in millions of dollars of savings for RagingWire customers and encouraged companies to establish or expand their IT and business operations in Virginia.
