Colonel (Retired) Scott Lathrop Joins Soar Technology as Director of Secure Autonomy

Soar Technology, Inc. announced that Colonel (Retired) Scott Lathrop, Ph.D. has joined as the Director of Secure Autonomy. Dr. Lathrop’s addition is part of SoarTech’s strategy to identify and pursue applications of artificial intelligence (AI) to the emerging intersection between autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and cyberspace operations. His efforts will focus on topics such as cybersecurity challenges unique to autonomous cyber-physical platforms; cognitively based capabilities for the cyberspace domain; and the employment of autonomous platforms for cyberspace/cybersecurity operations. Dr. Lathrop joins SoarTech after a distinguished 25+ year career in the United States Army. His military career included assignments as an Armor officer, a United State Military Academy professor, a deployment in Afghanistan, and culminated in the role as Director of Advanced Concepts and Technology (J9) at the United States Cyber Command. In this position he led a team responsible for the strategy, research, development, integration, and evaluation of cyberspace capabilities to support full spectrum cyberspace operations while serving as a key scientific and engineering advisor to the Commander, United States Cyber Command/Director National Security Agency.
