Moonami Learning Solutions Leverages Zadara Storage's Zadaras VPSA Storage-as-a-Service
Oct 27 15
Zadara Storage announced that Moonami Learning Solutions has achieved significant time-savings and competitive advantage by leveraging the Zadara VPSA enterprise storage-as-a-service (STaaS) solution in concert with compute resources at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud. By eliminating its use of GlusterFS storage and deploying Zadaras enterprise-grade NFS and CIFS storage co-located adjacent to AWS East 1, Moonami is saving approximately 20 hours of IT time each week nearly half of a full-time administrators role from the daily headaches of managing the storage resource. This is extra time that Moonamis small, but savvy IT team is now allocating to more business-impactful activities. The move also lowered Moonamis total storage costs by 45%. The Zadara VPSA also enabled Moonami to take advantage of low-cost object-based storage capabilities for backup, via Zadaras unique Backup to Amazon S3 (B2S3) feature an automatic, snapshot-based, continuous, incremental backup. With increments as frequent as once a minute, B2S3 allows any Moonami customer who accidentally deleted files to request a backup copy saved within the past hour, instead of within the past day. This enables heightened customer peace of mind and allows Moonami to deliver even better service to their customers.
Starcom Selects Zadara Storage’s Virtual Private Storage Array Platform
Oct 13 15
Zadara Storage and Starcom announced that Zadara’s Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) platform has been selected by Starcom to replace their EMC VNX and NetApp FAS storage arrays. The VPSA solution will support their VMware- and Microsoft-based applications in data centers located in Europe and North America. After a rigorous evaluation, Starcom selected the Zadara VPSA solution to support their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence and e-commerce, hosting and managed services businesses. By leveraging Zadara’s On-Premise as a Service (OPaaS) solution, they gain the benefits of an OpEx, pay-as-you-go model, but with the control of having the storage reside physically inside their data centers.
Cal Poly Replaces NetApp with Zadara Storage On-Premise as a Service Private Cloud
Aug 31 15
Zadara announced that its customer California Polytechnic State University, made Zadara's innovative On Premise as a Service (OPaaS) private cloud storage solution the center piece of its move from a cost center to an IT-service provider model in serving its colleges and departments. By replacing its NetApp storage array with the Zadara Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) located on its premises and behind its firewall, Cal Poly solved numerous management, scalability and performance issues and gained a primary storage solution that keeps the storage within its data center, while still enjoying all the benefits of cloud pricing. By changing the way it thinks about storage, Cal Poly also eliminated the 3- to 5-year purchase-manage-refresh cycles of traditional storage, and assured it stays within its Operating Expense (OpEx) budget quarter after quarter. CalPoly's single NetApp array was causing anI/Ostorm impacting everyone's performance, as the mixed workloads it supported caused the classic noisy neighbor issue. The array was complex and difficult to manage, causing delays in responding to departmental requests for storage capacity. With the NetApp array's expiring warranties and functional limitations on top of very limited OpEx budgets CalPoly's IT services group knew it needed to make some serious changes, but wasn't sure they had any options. After evaluating over 20 storage vendors including EMC, Dell, and AmazonS3, CalPoly's IT services group chose Zadara Storage as it faced a 5-year budget lock that kept it from purchasing capital expenditure (CapEx) infrastructure.
