K2L GmbH & Co. KG announced its new cost-effective OptoLyzer® MOCCA CL development tool for CAN and LIN-based automotive networks that ends cable clutter, even in the most complex design projects. With six CAN and six LIN interfaces in a single box, the OptoLyzer MOCCA CL can be used for automotive field bus analysis and verification, as well as testing and simulation. The latest in a chain of OptoLyzer MOCCA tools, the OptoLyzer MOCCA CL works seamlessly with K2L's new and comprehensive OptoLyzer Studio software, and provides a long expected life cycle. The OptoLyzer MOCCA CL's six CAN and six LIN interfaces provide many capabilities to automotive developers. Two of the CAN interfaces can be set to work either as CAN high- or low-speed interfaces, or a single-wire CAN interface. The typical accuracy of CAN timestamp information for messages and events is 500 µs. Offering maximum flexibility for hardware interface use cases not covered by the OptoLyzer Studio software, a corresponding API is available to develop customized applications. The OptoLyzer MOCCA CL is presently available from K2L, and is priced at $2,290.

K2L GmbH & Co. KG announced the new version of its OptoLyzer Studio software development tool, which enables automotive CAN and LIN network development with reduced complexity, cost and time for designers, testers and system integrators. This modern and easy-to-use .NET-based tool leverages cost-effective system and device development, allowing the use of common file formats and offering users the opportunity to create software extensions by adding their own functionality. That open approach, combined with the ability to easily integrate into a larger internal development and test environment—or connect to other hardware tools from K2L, Microchip or any 3rd party—makes OptoLyzer Studio the automotive industry's most flexible development option. Available now, this initial OptoLyzer Studio Entry Edition offers the ability to analyze the traffic on one CAN or LIN channel, and can be combined with the OptoLyzer Studio GUI and the Microchip CAN Bus Analyzer tool. A follow-up release planned for later 2015 will add the ability to combine with the Microchip LIN Serial Analyzer. Also available the OptoLyzer Studio Foundation CL Edition provides all capabilities for testing and analyzing network traffic over CAN and LIN systems, with synchronous time stamps, in one powerful GUI. The OptoLyzer Studio's main GUI includes a multi-view concept for synchronous data capture that is based on .NET technology. This makes steep learning curves a thing of the past. Offering powerful and efficient data-monitoring capabilities, the Trace View, the Signal Graph, the Activity View and the Filter View are the centerpieces of these new editions. The Trace View neatly arranges the messages of the different bus systems. The Signal Graph visualizes signals over the course of time; providing the user with a better understanding of what is going on in the system. With the help of the Activity View, users can create their own tasks by generating messages and setting bookmarks with a synchronous time stamp. They can also make use of graphical programming capabilities to define complex procedures, including special timing behavior inside the GUI. K2L provides several different editions of its CAN-LIN OptoLyzer Studio software that enable customized function ranges for specific use cases. The OptoLyzer Studio Entry Edition is available for $390, and can be used with Microchip Technology's CAN BUS Analyzer Tool. The OptoLyzer Studio Foundation CL Edition is also available for $1,290.
K2L GmbH Announces Version 4.2.0 of its Unique MOST® PCI Tool Kit

K2L GmbH & Co. KG announced version 4.2.0 of its unique MOST® PCI Tool Kit, which further eases the simulation of MOST technology-based automotive infotainment systems and devices for rapid prototyping, verification and test. This new version features significant enhancements, including support for MOST150 coax (cPHY) and the addition of the MOST Stream software tool with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that speeds the setup of synchronous and isochronous streaming connections. These streaming connections transmit audio and video data with unprecedented convenience, using MOST networking technology. With MOST Stream, received audio and video data can instantly be played back over connected speakers and a GUI-integrated, open-source multimedia cross-platform VLC player, or stored on the hard drive. Support for multi-channel, 7.1 surround sound with control/configuration bytes was also added. Additionally, the VLC player can be directly used for the immediate playback of Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP)-free, isochronous video data with a length of up to 196 bytes per frame and PCR timing. In addition to the widely used plastic optical fiber (POF) physical layer for MOST150, the MOST PCI Toolkit now also supports development with the corresponding low-cost electrical physical layer (i.e., MOST150 coax). The MOST Technology Driver Stack loaded on all MOST PCI Tool Kit boards was updated to the version 126.96.36.199. The MOST PCI Tool Kit can help in different phases of development for a MOST technology-based device. MOST technology-based streaming devices can be replaced with the MOST PCI Tool Kit, early in the design cycle, reducing the required prototyping efforts to a minimum. When device tests are ready to be conducted, the capabilities of the MOST PCI Tool Kit offer additional value as every device under test (DUT) needs a communication partner for stimulation. Additional features of the MOST PCI Tool Kit include access to real-time streaming transfers, packet data transport and control message services for MOST networks, and the ability to operate as a master or slave node in a MOST network for further versatility and cost-effectiveness. For customer-specific applications, the kit also offers an easy-to-use Application Programming Interface (API). The MOST PCI Tool Kit Version 4.2.0 is available on June 24, 2015 for $2,490.
