Mackay Sugar announced the appointment of Jason Lowry to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective September 15, 2015. Mr. Lowry replaces outgoing CEO, Quinton Hildebrand, who announced his decision to stand down from the role in April 2015. Mr. Lowry has been a key member of the Mackay Sugar management team for over three years. He is currently the General Manager Milling Operations and is responsible for managing Mackay Sugar's three Mackay mills, the Racecourse Cogeneration (renewable energy) Plant, and diversification and business improvement initiatives. Prior to joining Mackay Sugar in early May 2012, Mr. Lowry was Director of Factory Operations at American Crystal Sugar Company where he was responsible for the beet sugar company's five production facilities. His career spans more than 18 years in managerial roles at global companies such as Cargill and Sidney Sugars Incorporated.

Mackay Sugar and MSF Sugar Joint Crushing Deal

Mackay Sugar and MSF Sugar entered into an agreement to toll crush up to 250,000 tonnes of Mackay Sugar contracted cane at the Tableland Mill in the 2015 season. The agreement, which is still subject to satisfaction of a number of conditions, will see the Tablelands cane transported to MSF Sugar's Tableland Mill for crushing as opposed to Mackay Sugar's Mossman Mill. Mackay Sugar's Mossman Mill is expected to handle a crop of 1 million tonnes in the 2015 season and Tableland Mill anticipates a crop of 650,000 tonnes; the two mills will commence the crushing season on 11 May and in the second week of June respectively.
