Quantitative Software Management. Inc. Releases SLIM-Suite 10.0

Quantitative Software Management Inc. announced the availability of SLIM-Suite 10.0, the latest version of QSM’s software estimation program that allows enterprises to estimate cost, time, and effort requirements for software and systems projects to better predict outcomes. With new quadrant chart visualization features, the updated version of the SLIM-Suite allows users to gain visibility into multiple projects at once and, as a result, easily identify high-risk projects, improve demand management, and address project feasibility issues early in the process. Additionally, users can now map staff capacity to portfolio demand to ensure that development resources are utilized across projects and available when needed. In addition to the new visual capabilities, highlights of SLIM-Suite 10.0 include: Updated 2017 industry trends: Estimates now leverage the latest project data from 2017 to provide better metrics for more accurate portfolio planning. New skills aggregation capabilities: This new feature expands upon the existing functionality to include detailed breakouts of effort, staffing, and cost by skill by month for subsystem tasks beyond Excel to include custom and SLIM-Control tasks in addition to SLIM-Estimate tasks. Better database management features: SLIM-Suite 10.0 allows easier detection of duplicate projects and improved data importing capabilities.

Quantitative Software Management, Inc. Releases 2017 Software Almanac

Quantitative Software Management Inc. released the Winter 2017 version of its annual Software Almanac. This year’s edition focuses on the uses and advantages of parametric estimation and importance of quality as it pertains to software projects. The 2017 Software Almanac focuses on the successful application of processes outlined in last year’s edition, which examined the past 35 years of software estimation and identified principles that are still applicable, despite the evolution of agile methodologies. The 2017 Software Almanac includes articles examining primary core metrics, management, and best practices to minimize software project failures. These articles address the dangers of ignoring historical data, lessons learned from past software projects, and the value of applying those lessons correctly. Much of the content in the 2017 QSM Software Almanac is derived from the QSM Metrics Database. The Database includes more than 10,000 completed software projects across all industries and six continents. The data it contains represents over 740 million lines of code, 600+ development languages, and 105,833 person years of effort.

Quantitative Software Management. Inc. Receives Four Prime Contracts with the U.S. Army

Quantitative Software Management Inc. (QSM) announced it has been awarded four prime task order contracts with the U.S. Army. Under these contracts, QSM will provide cost estimation services that will better enable the Army to predict cost requirements for effectively developing and maintaining software systems. QSM will also provide technical support services in the areas of data analysis and the development of predictive cost relationships to inform future cost estimates. QSM has been working with the Army since early 2007, during which time it has helped to statistically analyze software data and identify key cost estimating relationships in support of this work.
