Airbus Defence and Space announces Partnerships with Inmarsat Government, Hughes Network Systems, and SpeedCast to Offer Skynet Military Satellite Communication Services

Airbus Defence and Space has struck up partnerships with Inmarsat Government, Hughes Network Systems, and SpeedCast to offer Skynet military satellite communication services. The three companies are able to offer Skynet services to Australian, New Zealand and U.S. forces operating across the globe. Inmarsat Government will include Skynet services as part of its portfolio offer to U.S. government customers. Hughes will use the partnership for U.S. government tactical missions, primarily using the Xebra service, which uses the Hughes HM300 lightweight X-band satellite terminal and Airbus Defence and Space's Skynet capacity. SpeedCast will be offering the tactical secure communications services to the Australian and New Zealand government. Inmarsat Government Retains Disputed US Navy Satellite Services Contract

The U.S. government has given Inmarsat Government approval to lift the stop-work order issued regarding the U.S. Navy's Commercial Broadband Satellite Program (CBSP) Satellite Services Contract (CSSC). Work following the initial contract, first awarded Sept. 8, 2015, froze due to a bid protest. Inmarsat Government remains the awardee on the single award Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract issued against solicitation HC1013-14-R-0004, which supports the CSSC. The single award consists of a base one-year period with four one-year option periods through 2021. Under the contract, Inmarsat Government is tasked with supporting the U.S. Navy's requirement to acquire worldwide commercial telecommunication services, to include satellite capacity for mobile and fixed satellite transceivers on maritime, airborne and ground platforms, backhaul connectivity, monitoring and control and operations.
