Khazanah Reportedly Looking To Merge Telekom And Axiata

Khazanah Nasional Berhad is looking to merge Telekom Malaysia Berhad (KLSE:TM) and Axiata Group Berhad (KLSE:AXIATA), The Edge Weekly reported. Telekom is set to compete with other mobile operators, including Axiata’s Celcom Axiata Berhad. Khazanah owns 28.7% of Telekom and 37.8% of Axiata.

Celcom Axiata Berhad and MyEG Services Bhd announced that announcement on 4 September 2015 on the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between Celcom Axiata Berhad and My E.G. Services Berhad for another period of 1 year. The companies announced that the said MOU has been terminated with immediate effect on 9 May 2016 with mutual agreement from both parties as the said MOU has transited to a business arrangement, such as the appointment of MYEG on 22 January 2016 as Celcom's Direct Channel Partner to promote, market and distribute products and services to end users. As such, the MOU would therefore no longer subsist.
Celcom Provides Capital Expenditure Guidance for the Year of 2016

Celcom Axiata Bhd, is allocating at least MYR 1.2 billion for capital expenditure (capex) in 2016 to improve service offerings. The capex would be used to expand its 4G service areas, as well as building a more quality coverage in 25 identified prime city areas.
