McGraw-Hill Professional announced that its premier online medical platform, AccessMedicine, now offers more than 7,000 downloadable patient monographs in nine languages through a partnership with RelayHealth, McKesson's connectivity business that provides solutions to enable constituents across healthcare to exchange information securely and conveniently. Physicians, hospitals, urgent care centers, and other users of AccessMedicine will now have available to them authoritative medical information to provide to patients at the point of care. RelayHealth's materials bring significant expertise and depth of knowledge in patient education to AccessMedicine's wealth of content solutions. The monographs meet healthcare providers' needs to enhance patient education initiatives, help to engage patients, reinforce important health messages, facilitate open dialogue between patients and doctors, and ultimately improve patient safety and health outcomes. In addition to English and Spanish, the other languages offered are Chinese, French, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Tift Regional Medical Center Adopts RelayHealth Health Information Exchange

Tift Regional Medical Center has chosen the RelayHealth for Health Information Exchange (HIE) powered by the RelayClinical Platform. The RelayHealth HIE will benefit patient care, hospital operations and physician practices while helping the hospital meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use requirements. Tift Regional Medical Center has plans to share patient information with South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga., (another RelayHealth HIE customer) and other hospitals up and down the Interstate 75 corridor to create a continuum of care throughout Georgia. In choosing an HIE solution, Tift Regional Medical Center assembled a team that included four physicians to evaluate a half-dozen HIE vendors before choosing RelayHealth.

South Georgia Medical Center Chooses RelayHealth for Patient-Centric Health Information Exchange

South Georgia Medical Center is implementing RelayHealth's patient centered Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform as part of its strategy to meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use requirements and facilitate the fluid exchange of data between physicians and patients. In the past 18 months, South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) has evolved from a community hospital into a four-hospital system that includes a 25-bed critical access hospital about 25 miles from the main Valdosta campus. The growth meant that HIE was critical to the organization's success. Phase one of the project includes populating the RelayHealth HIE with the hospitals' information and making it available to physicians. Foster noted that fast Internet access will replace the current, more cumbersome, remote portal. The second phase involves connecting five physician practices' EMRs to the HIE so physician orders and test results can flow between the two. More practices will be added to the HIE later. The final phase involves a patient portal that will allow individuals to communicate electronically with their physicians and view their health records.
