S4C has turned to a senior Welsh Government civil servant for its next chief executive. Owen Evans, currently the Welsh Government's deputy permanent secretary with responsibilities for education and public service, will take up his new role in October - succeeding current chief executive Ian Jones. Mr. Evans, who lives in Cardiff, was educated at Ysgol Penweddig, Aberystwyth, before graduating in economics at Swansea University. He was a member of the Welsh Language Board between 2005 and 2010. He is currently a member of the Marie Curie advisory board for Wales. Mr. Evans will also have to oversee the move of the channel's headquarters from Cardiff to Carmarthen in 2018.
S4C Appoints LLION IWAN Head of Content Distribution

LLION IWAN has been appointed to the new S4C post of head of content distribution. The appointment follows the recent restructuring at the channel and Llion will work closely with Amanda Rees, the company's new director of creative content, as they develop a new content strategy. Llion is the current commissioner, factual content, and he will remain in the role until his successor starts in the post. Llion, of Waunfawr, Caernarfon, will lead the S4C Creative Team and the work will mean that he will spend more time in Cardiff until the headquarters relocates to Carmarthen in 2018. Working closely with Amanda, he will be responsible for delivering an engaging, wide-ranging and entertaining schedule across all platforms for the S4C audience, as well as programme acquisitions. He will also be responsible for all the news and current affairs output across all platforms, chairing any discussions with the BBC and listening and responding to the views and comments of the production sector.

S4C Digital Media Limited has announced that Gwyn Williams has been appointed to the new role of Director of Communications and Engagement. Gwyn Williams has a wealth of experience in the broadcasting industry, having produced and directed programmes varying from the 1980's S4C series Hel Straeon to the channel's live broadcast of the 2005 Snowdon Race. His experience in broadcasting also includes several key roles such as Chief Executive of Barcud in Caernarfon (2007-2010), and he was one of the founders of the independent production company Cwmni Da. For the past three and a half years, Gwyn Williams has worked for the Welsh Language Commissioner and will leave his role as Director of Communications, Promotion and Administration to join S4C in November.
