Sage Science Introduces PippinHT

Sage Science introduced the PippinHT, a high-throughput version of the popular Pippin line of automated DNA size selection instruments for use with next-generation sequencers. The instrument will be particularly useful for scientists conducting large-scale genomic or transcriptomic studies. PippinHT incorporates the company's highly regarded sizing technology and increases throughput to 24 samples per run, compared to a maximum of five with Pippin Prep or BluePippin, and shortens run times by about 50 percent. The instrument offers an efficient, automated solution for scientists running sequencing labs, core facilities, and other laboratories producing large-scale sequencing data. PippinHT dramatically reduces NGS sample prep time and provides accurate, reproducible results while eliminating the risk of cross-contamination between samples. Independent studies of size selection methods have repeatedly demonstrated that the Pippin platform offers unparalleled reproducibility, accuracy, and sample recovery. Sage Science Launches Unique Tool to Maximize Value of DNA and Protein Samples

Sage Science announced the release of its new SageELF technology for DNA and protein fractionation. This sample prep instrument will be especially useful for preserving precious samples and has applications in next-generation sequencing as well as bottom-up or top-down proteomics experiments. The SageELF generates 12 contiguous fractions from whole DNA or protein samples. For DNA or cDNA sequencing, that allows scientists to generate libraries with multiple insert sizes from the same sample, which has applications in genome sequencing, structural variant detection, and identification of rare splice variants. For protein studies, the ability to take many slices from a whole sample is useful for reducing sample complexity, enriching for rare proteins, and ensuring recovery of all proteins in the sample. The SageELF, short for Electrophoretic Lateral Fractionator, automatically electrophoreses samples and elutes whole DNA or proteins from the entire gel lane into 12 elution modules. Users simply load their sample, start the run, and pipette out the fractions later. Unlike in-gel digestion, in which some DNA fragments or peptides never leave the gel, the whole protein or DNA sample is electrophoresed into the elution modules.
Sage Science and Uniscience do Brasil Enter into Brazilian Distribution Agreement

Sage Science and Uniscience do Brasil announced a distribution agreement for Sage's Pippin DNA size selection product portfolio. Uniscience is the first distributor for Sage Science in the South American market. The Pippin DNA size selection system consists of an electrophoresis instrument and pre-cast, disposable gel cassettes. For collections of smaller fragments up to 1.5 kb, the Pippin Prep system facilitates the construction of next-generation sequencing libraries for paired-end sequencing, ChIP-seq, and preparing templates for emulsion PCR. If the collection of larger fractions is needed, the BluePippin system allows researchers to expand size selection to fragments up to 50 kb using pulsed-field electrophoresis. Pippin systems can be used as a replacement for manual gel purification for any application that requires, or can be improved by, this step.
