Lenovo and Google announced that Lenovo's acquisition of Motorola Mobility from Google is complete. Liu Jun, Lenovo executive vice president and president of Lenovo's Mobile Business Group, is chairman of the Motorola Management Board. Rick Osterloh, a Motorola veteran, will remain president and chief operating officer of Motorola.
Motorola Mobility to Close 700-Worker Fort Worth Plant

Motorola Mobility's handset unit will close its factory in Fort Worth by the end of 2014, putting 700 assemblers of Moto X phones out of work. Moto X, Google Inc.'s initiative to build smartphones in the United States fell victim to weak sales and high costs. Motorola said it will continue to manufacture the Moto X in other plants, including in Brazil and China. Motorola opened the Fort Worth factory in May 2013.
Motorola Unveils Moto E Smartphone in India

Motorola Mobility has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Moto E, at an event in India. The device is even cheaper than its previous mobile, retailing at INR 6,999 (USD 117) in India without a service contract. The Android 4.4 smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch 540x960 qHD display, 1 GB RAM, 4GB storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 5 megapixel rear camera, FM radio and support for two Sims. Motorola highlighted the durability of the 3G device, with Corning Gorilla Glass and a water-resistant splash guard, as well as a long-lasting 1,980 mAh battery. The Moto E goes on sale 13 May in India first, on the site Flipkart. The company will launch the phone in other markets later, with a marketing campaign under the tagline 'Made to last. Priced for all'. In addition, Motorola introduced a new version of the Moto G smartphone supporting LTE. It offers the same features plus 4G access, at a cost of USD 219.
