Myanmar Governement Plans To privatized Myanmar Blocks

Cairn India Limited (BSE:532792), ONGC Videsh Limited and Reliance Industries Limited (BSE:500325) are vying with global energy Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Royal Dutch Shell plc (LSE:RDSA) 30 offshore oil and gas blocks that Myanmar has put on offer. In all, 61 firms have prequalified to bid for 11 shallow water and 19 deepwater blocks in an international tender, according to Myanmar's Energy Ministry. Myanmar is looking at awarding the acreages in February or March on 2014. The shortlisted companies from India include Reliance Industries, ONGC Videsh, Cairn India, Oil India Limited (BSE:533106), GAIL (India) Limited (BSE:532155) and Jubilant Offshore Drilling Pvt. Ltd. Global majors include Shell, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Total SA (ENXTPA:FP), Statoil ASA (OB:STL), among others. Asian national firms such as BGP, Inc., Korea National Oil Corporation and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation have also been shortlisted.
