Power-One Launches New Family of Wide Input Voltage Isolated DC/DC Converters

Power-One introduced a new family of wide input voltage range DC/DC Isolated Converters (Bricks). The Universal Input Brick (UIB) family consists of DOSA compatible Quarter (UIQ), Eighth (UIE) and Sixteenth (UIS) Brick form factors that support a wide input voltage range of 18V(DC) -- 75V(DC) and output voltages of 12.0V(DC), 5.0V(DC) and 3.3V(DC.) The UIB series supplies output power of 240W for the UIQ, 120W for the UIE and 72W for the UIS. These series of DC/DC isolated converters provide efficiencies above 91% at full load and across the entire input voltage range. The UIB family of products provides good power density, for these DOSA compatible models, in the market. Digital control coupled with a forward converter topology that incorporates an active clamp allows for this level of performance. All models support protection for the following events: Over Voltage (OVP), Over Current (OCP), Over Temperature (OTP) and Under Voltage (UVLO). All protection schemes allow for recovery to normal operation once the event is over. The UIB family is available with a baseplate /heat spreader option. Paste-in-Hole (PIH) compatibility is common to all the UIBs including models utilizing the baseplate /heat spreader. The UIQ, UIE and UIS isolated DC/DC converters can be used in telecom, datacom, instrumentation, test equipment, embedded equipment, servers, and storage equipment, or any application that requires isolation and high performance. The wide input voltage range allows for the same model to be used in systems that utilize 24V(BATT,) 48V(BATT) or both backplane voltages providing reduction of inventories in such applications.

Power-One Launches New 3000W Platinum Front End Power Supply

Power-One introduced the PFE3000, a 3000W front-end AC-DC power supply. This product provides a 12VDC output with a stand-by output of 12V. With the lowest direct and indirect running costs and enhanced reliability, it is the higher power density, greenest server power supply in the 69mm form factor. The PFE3000 can be used in data centers, servers, and storage equipment, providing them with reliable power at the world's best efficiency. Higher efficiency means less energy wasted within the product and less energy used in cooling infrastructure. Products which incorporate energy-efficient power supplies like the PFE3000 often qualify for rebates from energy utilities, thus offering a savings from day one. Additional features include a wide input voltage range of 90-300VAC alternatively, DC I/P of 192-400VDC, hot-plug capable, and ultra-high density design of 30.5W/in. The ultra-flat conversion efficiency (>90% efficiency at 5% load) guarantees optimal operation over the whole load range and efficiency peaks at more than 95% at 230Vac. The PFE3000 also features highly accurate real-time monitoring of input and output parameters, voltages, currents, temperatures, and true power readings. This enables data center managers to optimize server usage to reduce load power, further increasing the energy gains beyond those of the power supply itself. A GUI interface and a demo PCB are also available to assist with technical evaluation.
