HealthPartners Pitches $79 Million Expansion

HealthPartners has proposed a $79 million expansion of its already sizable presence on St. Paul's East Side. The company announced plans for a four-story medical office building at 295 Phalen Boulevard, next to its rehab facility and near its two specialty centers on the boulevard. The 128,000-square foot building, which could be completed by spring 2017, would specialize in dementia, stroke, spine care, Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders. The company also plans a 630-stall parking ramp. A tentative future phase could top off the building with 64,000 square feet of medical office space, alongside 240 more parking spaces.

HealthPartners announced that Regions Hospital President and CEO Brock Nelson will retire at the end of 2014. Megan Remark, a HealthPartners specialty care leader who has been with the organization for almost 20 years, has been named his successor. During the next six months, Remark will work with Nelson to transition into her role as president and CEO. She will officially start in her new position on Jan. 1, 2015.
