Burson-Marsteller Announces Executive Changes

Burson-Marsteller announced that Terri-Helen Gaynor has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific, effective immediately. Gaynor succeeds Patrick Ford, who had been Chair of the Asia-Pacific region since October 2012. Ford will continue as Worldwide Vice Chair and Chief Client Officer and as Chair of the Asia-Pacific region through the leadership transition, serving as a senior advisor to Gaynor. Both Gaynor and Ford will report to Burson-Marsteller Worldwide Chair and Chief Executive Officer Donald A. Baer. Gaynor will be based in Hong Kong. For the past 12 years, Gaynor served as Managing Director and Founding Partner of Reputation Pty Ltd. in Australia. While leading Reputation Pty Ltd, she specialized in corporate communications, government relations and investor relations assignments for a variety of top global brands, including Becton, Dickinson and Company; Deutsche Bank; KPMG; Marriott International; Optus; and Qantas, among many others.

Burson-Marsteller, LLC Appoints Morten Pettersen as Nordic CEO

Burson-Marsteller, LLC announced that Morten Pettersen has been appointed Nordic CEO of the company as part of a strategy to further strengthen the company’s position in the Nordic region. Morten Pettersen was appointed CEO of Burson-Marsteller Norway in April 2012, having joined the company in 2010 as Deputy CEO. Until taking over as CEO, Morten headed up the corporate practice, building a strong portfolio of clients and strengthening Burson-Marsteller Norway’s M&A related communication services. He started his career in politics when he was appointed political adviser to the Minister of Higher Education and Research Gudmund Hernes. Pettersen stayed in government for four years, during the Labour government led by Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, who later became the President of the World Health Organization. Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller Pettersen was owner and CEO of the communications agency Agendum, which he led and built up over 10 years. In addition to leading the Nordic region, Morten Pettersen will continue in his current role as CEO for Burson-Marsteller Norway, joining a strong leadership team that includes Nikolaj Buchardt, CEO Burson-Marsteller Denmark, Jouni Heinonen, CEO Pohjoisranta Burson-Marsteller in Finland and Helena Olsson, CEO Burson-Marsteller Sweden. He will also supervise company's affiliated operations in the Baltic Countries.

Burson-Marsteller Names Stephen Naru as Head of U.S. Media Relations, Managing Director, U.S. Corporate & Financial Practice

Burson-Marsteller announced that Stephen Naru has joined the company as Head of U.S. Media Relations and Managing Director, U.S. Corporate and Financial Practice. Naru will work with a team of media specialists to provide media relations strategy and execution to clients. He also will be responsible for ensuring the application of best practice in media relations for the firm across the U.S. Naru joins Burson-Marsteller from FleishmanHillard, where he served as Global Media Relations Practice Leader, providing leadership and direction for the firm's global media council. He was also responsible for intellectual property and product development for the practice. While at FleishmanHillard, Naru worked with a diverse group of clients including AT&T, Monsanto, Barnes & Noble, Coty, AlixPartners, Lenovo, Huawei, Hyatt, Goldcorp, The New York Times Company and Columbia Business School, among many others. Naru will report to Alan Sexton, Chair, U.S. Corporate & Financial Practice, New York Market Leader.
