Comtech Systems, Inc. Key Developments

Comtech Systems, Inc. Receives an Additional Order for Shipboard Troposcatter System

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced that during its third quarter of fiscal 2017, its Orlando, Florida-based subsidiary, Comtech Systems, Inc. received a follow-on order for the first ever shipboard troposcatter system to meet the U.S. Military’s growing requirement for offshore, beyond the horizon communications for ships underway. Total orders received for this product during fiscal 2017 have aggregated $1.6 million. This shipboard side of the system is a self-contained terminal featuring a three-axis stabilized antenna in conjunction with Comtech’s tropo radio terminal. This maritime terminal is designed to be quickly deployed on and off a variety of marine crafts to give the military maximum mission flexibility. The shore side terminal uses Comtech Systems’ proven Modular Transportable Transmission Tropo System (MTTS), including its tracking Ultra tropo antenna and its 1 Kw Solid State Amplifiers. The system is capable of providing voice, video, and data communications to vessels 50+ nautical miles off shore. This is a major achievement made possible by Comtech Systems’ advanced 50 Mb/s digital troposcatter modem. This project for the U.S. Military builds on other firsts by Comtech which includes providing maritime troposcatter systems to floating and fixed platforms in the oil and gas industry.

Comtech Wins $2.2 Million Contract to Supply Troposcatter Systems for Swedish Armed Forces

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has announced that its subsidiary, Comtech Systems, Inc., which is part of Comtech's Government Solutions segment, has received a $2.2 million contract from the Swedish Defense Material Administration, or FMV, to supply it with deployable troposcatter systems for the Swedish Armed Forces, or SwAF. The COTS Comtech troposcatter products were later modified to meet Swedish Armed Forces standards and requirements. These systems will be used by the military for rapidly deployable communications. Comtech will be supplying the MTTS deployable troposcatter terminals customized to meet the specific requirements of the Swedish Armed Forces. The MTTS is the most advanced integrated troposcatter system available in the world and utilizes Comtech's CS67500 50 Mb/s troposcatter modem, CS4400 Frequency Converter System, and 500W SSPAs to provide a quad diversity performance in a modular, highly deployable package. Comtech was awarded this contract due to its superior equipment offering and large base of installed and operating troposcatter systems and equipment.
