Dell has also been speaking to private equity firms about selling Quest Software as well as SonicWALL L.L.C.

KKR & Co. L.P. (NYSE:KKR), Thoma Bravo, LLC and Vista Equity Partners are competing for $4 billion worth of Dell Inc.'s assets, people familiar with the matter said. The firms are vying for Dell's Quest Software, as well as SonicWALL L.L.C., the people said this week. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is advising Dell on their potential sale, the people added. Dell is also working with Citigroup Inc. on the sale of Perot Systems Corporation, the people said. The sources asked not to be identified because the deliberations are confidential. Representatives from Vista Equity, Thoma Bravo and Goldman Sachs did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Dell, Citi and KKR declined to comment.
Dell Reportedly Looking To Sell Non-Core Assets

Dell Inc. is planning to sell $10 billion in non-core assets to reduce the heavy debt load it will be taking on to buy EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), according to people familiar with the matter. Dell has also communicated the plan to credit rating agencies in recent days, the people said. The assets that Dell could sell include Quest Software International Limited, SonicWALL L.L.C., AppAssure Software, Inc. and Perot Systems Corporation.
