MetaMetrics Offers Two Major Enhancements to The Quantile Framework for Mathematics

MetaMetrics recently introduced two major enhancements to its Quantile Framework for Mathematics. The Quantile Framework, which targets instruction and forecasts understanding by placing mathematics curriculum, resources and students on the same scale, now provides more precise measurement and differentiated instruction for students in the early grades. Secondly, the Quantile Framework, which includes over 500 Quantile Skills and Concepts (QSCs), has been augmented with over 80 new QSCs to ensure the Framework covered all concepts encompassed in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This expanded and comprehensive set of QSCs ensures that teachers will find resources and tools to help their students be college and career ready. To highlight these two enhancements, a new Quantile map has been developed that provides example QSCs at the early grades as well as QSCs that are aligned with the CCSS. With the Quantile Map, educators can explore the interconnectedness of mathematical skills and concepts and identify those skills and concepts that are critical for progressing student learning. The Quantile Framework for Mathematics is a unique measurement system that uses a common scale and metric to assess a student's mathematical achievement level and the difficulty of specific skills and concepts. The Quantile Framework describes a student's ability to solve mathematical problems and the demand of the skills and concepts typically taught in kindergarten mathematics through Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Precalculus. Quantile measures take the guesswork out of instruction by describing which mathematical skills and concepts the student has learned and is ready to learn. Educators and parents can use Quantile measures to connect the student with resources that meet his or her unique learning needs and to determine if the student is on track to pass year-end assessments and be ready for the demands of college and careers.

Renaissance Learning Partners with MetaMetrics to Add Lexile Measures to Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading

Renaissance Learning announced its partnership with MetaMetrics. Renaissance Learning will incorporate Lexile measures into its reading platforms, including Accelerated Reader, the nation's most widely used reading management program. Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, a student's reading performance from Renaissance Learning's STAR Reading assessment can be reported as either an ATOS or Lexile measure. Also, Lexile text measures will be provided for 160,000 books in AR BookFinder, Renaissance Learning's online search tool that helps teachers, students, and parents find ability-appropriate books corresponding to Accelerated Reader Quizzes. The reporting of ATOS and Lexile measures will provide students, parents, and educators with two options for both the text complexity of a book and student reading progress in relation to Common Core, state standards, and the reading demands for college and career readiness. The Lexile Framework scientifically measures a student's reading ability and the complexity of text on the same developmental scale. Recognized as the global standard for matching readers with texts, tens of millions of students worldwide receive Lexile measures that help them find targeted readings from the more than 100 million articles, books, and websites that have been measured.

Tales2Go Announces Partnership with MetaMetrics

Tales2Go Inc. announced a new partnership with MetaMetrics(R) to add Lexile(R) measures to the Tales2Go service. In the same way that Lexile measures help educators find the right book for a student to read, the measure can also be used as an important reference point to help find the right book for a student to listen to, in that audio books are an effective scaffold to allow students to 'read' above their actual level.
