Aeroflot and Saudia Enters into Codeshare Agreement

Aeroflot and Saudia announced that they have entered a codeshare agreement that expands their networks between popular business and leisure destinations in the two countries. The new codeshare flights are now available for purchase for flights starting from August 1, 2015. Subject to regulatory approval, Aeroflot will place Saudia SV code on codeshare services on the following routes: Moscow Cairo Jeddah, Moscow/St. Petersburg Istanbul Jeddah/Riyadh, Moscow Dubai Riyadh. Aeroflot will also place its SU code on codeshare flights with Saudia between Jeddah Cairo Moscow, Jeddah/Riyadh Istanbul Moscow/St. Petersburg, Riyadh Dubai Moscow. Customers travelling between Saudi Arabia and Russia will now be able to connect seamlessly with one ticket between Russia and Saudi Arabia via Istanbul, Cairo and Dubai. The agreement between the two airlines, both members of the SkyTeam global alliance, will strengthen the carriers positions in both markets and give customers greater convenience and flexibility. Passengers will benefit from simplified bookings, seamless connections on a single ticket and baggage check-through to the final destination.
Saudi Arabian Airlines to Acquire 50 New Airbus Aircraft Through Shari'ah-Compliant Finance

Saudi Arabian Airlines announced that the company is acquiring 30 A320 and 20 A330-300 aircraft from Airbus in a deal reportedly valued at $7.7 billion. Airbus will sell the aircraft to the Aircraft Leasing Islamic Fund (ALIF) operated by International Airfinance Corporation (IAFC), which will then lease them to Saudia. IAFC partnered with Airbus and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to create a Shari ah-compliant fund seeded by Airbus and the IDB and dedicated for Airbus aircraft. The Fund offers various forms of Islamic financing solutions, including Shari ah compliant operating leases, Sukuk, and Ijarah financing.
Saudi Arabian Airlines Orders 50 Passenger Planes from Airbus Worth $8 Billion

Saudi Arabian Airlines has ordered 50 passenger planes from Airbus with a total catalogue value of some $8.0 billion. The order consists of 20 Airbus A330-300 Regionals and 30 A320ceos. The medium-haul plane, which can carry 400 passengers and has a range of 5,000 kilometres (3,000 miles), will allow the airline to increase capacity on its most popular regional routes.
