SilkAir reported traffic results for the month of May 2015. The company's system wide passenger carriage grew 10.3% year-on-year, exceeding the 6.8% increase in capacity. Consequently, passenger load factor improved by 2.2 percentage points to 68.6%. Growth in passenger carriage exceeded capacity growth for both the East Asia and Pacific Region as well as the West Asia Region, resulting in a 2.7 percentage points and 0.4 percentage point increase in PLF respectively. Passenger-kilometres was 530.2 million against 470.8 million a year ago. Passengers carried was 152,000 against 136,000 a year ago. Capacity (seat-kilometres) was 726.1 million against 680.1 million a year ago.

SilkAir launched its first direct flight to Cairns. The new service - company's most operationally expensive yet - will be operated with company's latest Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy class cabins.
