Toshiba Corporation and Electronic Corporation of India Limited Wins Order in India for X-Band Dual Polarization Transportable Doppler Weather Radar System

Toshiba Corporation announced that, in collaboration with Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), it has received an order to supply an X-band dual polarization transportable Doppler weather radar system to India Meteorological Department (IMD). The radar, the first weather radar that Toshiba will supply to outside Japan, will be installed at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India in January 2015. The X-band dual polarization transportable Doppler weather radar system for IMD has a range of 80km, and its short wavelength supports high resolution imaging of precipitation and wind velocity. It is only 25% of the size and consumes only 10% of the power of an equivalent electron-tube-based radar.
