CIMB Bank Berhad and Tesco Stores Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. have announced a five-year strategic partnership. The result of this partnership is the new CIMB Tesco MasterCard and new CIMB Bank kiosks that would give Tesco shoppers a value-added shopping-banking experience. Cardmembers will receive up to 5% cash rebate on Tesco spending including Tesco's online store and additional Tesco Clubcard Points when they use the CIMB Tesco MasterCard. Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has allocated MYR 120 million to open four new outlets that will increase its total supermarket outlets in the country to 58. One more store would be opened in Lukut, Negri Sembilan in February 2016.

Tesco Malaysia Announces Change of Chief Executive Officer

Tesco Malaysia has appointed Paul Ritchie as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 17, 2015. Ritchie takes over from Datuk Georg Fischer, who leaves Tesco for opportunities outside the business. Ritchie joined Tesco in 1980 and prior to this appointment, was the CEO of Tesco Kipa in Turkey for three years before becoming the CEO of Tesco China in 2012. As CEO at Tesco Malaysia, Ritchie would be responsible for all areas of the business, involving 53 hypermarkets and over 8,000 colleagues.
