UKTV reported earnings results for the year 2013. For the year, the company reported revenues of GBP 278 million, boosted by the commissioning of more original content. Investments depressed reported EBITDA, which fell 6% to GBP 67.4 million, but without the costs, underlying EBITDA rose 7% to GBP 76.7 million.
UKTV to Launch UKTV Play, a New Digital-Only Service

UKTV will this summer launch UKTV Play, a new digital-only service. The service will curate content by topics and events, as well as by dynamic ‘staff picks’, box sets and advance preview of new programmes, making it easier for viewers to select want they want to watch. UKTV Play will soft launch on iOS this summer with PC and YouView with programming such as Storage Hunters, Crackanory, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Dara O Briain: School of Hard Sums, Inquisition, Raiders of the Lost Art, Crime Stories, Rescue Code One, Most Haunted and Ghost Adventures, along with a selection of BBC programmes. The digital-only service will also include box sets including Lizard Lick Towing, 24 Hours to Go Broke, Black Ops and Museum Secrets, back to back. The network's channel brands, such as Dave and Really, will also feature. UKTV Play features easy to use functionality including swipe channel selection, stop-and-resume viewing, predictive search, alphabetical browser and parental controls. The network reaches over 42 million viewers per month. Dan Fahy, UKTV's director of commercial & business development, will work alongside GM for VOD Emma Boston, on the roll out of UKTV Play while head of VOD Kim Morris will oversee editorial content. Ben Hine, director of operations and technology will be responsible for building the service.

Richard Watsham has been appointed director of commissioning at UKTV following the departure of Jane Rogerson. Watsham, was previously senior commissioning editor at the multichannel broadcaster after joining in 2011 from Bravo, takes up the role with immediate effect.
