Trimac Transportation Ltd. announced earnings results for first quarter ended March 31, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of CAD 87.3 million against CAD 93.8 million for the same period a year ago. Operating earnings was CAD 3.8 million against CAD 3.2 million for the same period a year ago. Income before income tax expense was CAD 3.0 million against CAD 2.7 million for the same period a year ago. Net property, plant and equipment additions were CAD 2.5 million compared to the CAD 1.4 million for the same quarter year ago. The company has reported that net income for the first quarter ended March 31, 2016 was CAD 2.54 million, or CAD 0.09 per share, compared to CAD 2.38 million, or CAD 0.08 per share, for the same quarter ended March 31, 2015. Transportation revenue for the first quarter ended March 31, 2016 was CAD 77.61 million, compared to CAD 83.23 million for the same quarter ended March 31, 2015.
The company is keeping a cautious outlook for the remainder of 2016. The economic deterioration experienced in 2015 is showing some signs of abating primarily from export growth.
