Claro Brasil Appoints Paulo César Teixeira as the New CEO

América Móvil has appointed executive Paulo César Teixeira as the new CEO of Claro Brasil. Teixeira, who has 35 years of market experience and until 2015 was general director at Telefónica Brasil, will now head the mobile operations of the group in the country and report to América Móvil Brasil CEO José Felix. Felix had been filling in as interim CEO since March 2016, when then-Claro Brasil CEO Carlos Zenteno left to take over the operations of Claro Colombia.

Oi Plans To Divest Some Of Its Assets

Oi S.A. (BOVESPA:OIBR4) intends to divest some of its assets - mobile services, data centres, call centres, optical fibres networks. Oi lured the interest of investors that are now evaluating the regulatory barriers involved in the process. TIM Participações S.A. (BOVESPA:TIMP3) is pointed as a prospective bidder for some of its assets. Depending upon the price of the assets Claro S.A. could be interested.

Claro Brasil Expands 4G LTE Footprint in Marlia in Sao Paulo State

Claro Brasil has activated a 4G LTE network in the city of Mar­lia in Sao Paulo state. This is the 97th locality in Claro's geographic area to receive the carrier's 4G LTE network and the 31st in Sao Paulo state alone. The technology is available to clients of any plans and modalities prepaid, postpaid or control. Customers in the city will also be able to join Claro's Internet Turbinada, which offers free access to WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter.
