Nippon Life Reportedly Plans To Acquire Mitsui Life

Nippon Life Insurance Company is planning to acquire Mitsui Life Insurance Company Limited as early as in September, according to people with knowledge of the deal. Nippon Life plans to offer ¥300 billion to ¥400 billion for at least an 80% stake in Mitsui Life, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the information isn't public. Nippon Life is planning to acquire a 66.67% to 80% stake in Mitsui Life from Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. and other shareholders. The transaction is expected to be announced early in September 2015 and complete by the end of March 2016.

Nippon Life In Talks To Buy Mitsui Life

Nippon Life Insurance Company is in talks to buy Mitsui Life Insurance Company Limited, people familiar with the matter said. Nippon Life is set to buy 80% stake from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and other leading shareholders, business daily Nikkei and public broadcaster NHK reported.
