Hardy Underwriting Appoints Craig Bennett as New Head of Casualty Underwriting

Hardy Underwriting announced that Craig Bennett has agreed to join the group to head up casualty underwriting and plans to start in late October/early November. In this new role, Craig will develop and execute a casualty strategy for Hardy, primarily focused on UK and international risks. Most recently, he served as Director of Casualty and Motor for QBE European Operations where he was responsible for the ongoing development of a portfolio of Casualty and Motor business and managed a team of over 100 underwriting and support staff.

Hardy has appointed David Stevens as board director and chief financial officer for the Hardy group of companies. Stevens is currently CFO for CNA Insurance, - Hardy's parent company- a role he will continue to hold. Stevens has held numerous finance roles including leadership positions at Chubb and Ace. He began his career as a senior audit manager for Ernst & Young. He replaces Jamie MacDiarmid, who announced his resignation earlier this year, will remain with Hardy for a period to effect an orderly transition to Stevens.
Hardy Appoints Heather Thomas its Board as a Non-Executive Director

Hardy has appointed a former Willis risk management leader and insurance solicitor to join its board as a non-executive director. Heather Thomas is currently also a member of Hardy parent CNA's risk and audit committees, as well as serving on the skilled persons panel of the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority. She joined Lovells in 1998 as a consultant, working on contentious and non-contentious business for international insurance and reinsurance clients, leaving in 2005 to join Wellington Underwriting as general counsel and compliance officer for the group's managing agent business.
