Amey Wins £3 Million Contract to Provide Train Protection and Warning Systems for Crossrail
Sep 15 15
Amey has signed a new £3 million contract with Network Rail to provide Train Protection and Warning Systems (TPWS) design and installation services for the Crossrail project. TPWS is the safety system that automatically triggers a train’s brakes if it passes a signal that is set in the ‘danger’ position or is travelling at too high a speed on approach to a red signal, buffer stop or speed restriction. Having been part of the team that pioneered the development of the original TPWS safety system, Amey will design and install a bespoke system for the new Crossrail trains over the course of the 18 month contract. Crossrail is due to go live in 2018 and will offer improved cross-capital links to London commuters. The TPWS system will then be replaced with the new European Train Control System currently under development, which will enable the electronic relay of signalling and lineside information directly to the driver inside the train cab.
Amey Receives £113 Million Contract to 2020 to Deliver Waste Water Services Across the Whole of Yorkshire Water’s Region
Jul 29 15
Amey has been awarded a £113 million contract to 2020 to deliver waste water services across the whole of Yorkshire Water’s region. From 26th September, Amey will repair and maintain around 20,000 miles of sewer pipe which transports waste water from nearly two million homes to over 600 waste water treatment works in the area. The contract award will see Amey expand its presence in the North of England and build upon its existing relationship with Yorkshire Water, having worked with them for five years. The service Amey will provide in the new contract is in addition to its current Yorkshire Water Framework which delivers non infrastructure projects in the region. The new contract to repair and maintain the waste water network is designed to deliver the best possible service for customers at the best possible price. The contract, which runs until April 2020, has the option to be extended for a further five years.
