NB Power Adds Four New Members to its Board of Directors

NB Power has added four new members to its board of directors. The new directors are: Alain Bossé, Andrew MacGillivray, Paul McCoy and Vicki Wallace-Godbout. These directors were selected using the new independent recruitment process used by the company. Wallace-Godbout was born and raised on the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation. She is the owner and operator of the Edmundston Truck Stop Shell service station and since 2014 has been serving as a director with the Edmundston Chamber of Commerce. Bossé is the president and chief operating officer of Groupe Savoie Inc. McCoy is a principal with the Atlantic Wind Connection Project, a high-voltage direct current submarine transmission network which will be located off the east coast of the United States. MacGillivray is the retired president and CEO of Gay Lea Foods, a large Canadian dairy co-operative, and currently acts as a advisor to their board. The four new directors will be joining chairman Ed Barrett, vice-chair Norm Betts and directors Lise Ouellette, Michael Sellman, Robert Youden, Judith Athaide, Charles Firlotte, Mark Reddemann, Barbara Trenholm, Mike Wilson and CEO Gaëtan Thomas.

NB Power announced earnings results for the year ended March 31, 2015. The company earned $73 million in the 2014-15 fiscal year, the fifth straight year that it has reported a profit. Its total revenue for the year that ended March 31 was about $1.8 billion. The company also says it paid down $103 million from its net debt as it tries to reach a goal set in 2011 of cutting $1 billion from its debt by 2021. The Crown corporation's total net debt stood at just over $4.9 billion at the end of the fiscal year, down from about $5 billion in 2013-14.
