Six Utilities Express Interest In Hamburg's Power Grid Concession

The Hamburg Environmental Authority announced that six utilities have expressed their interest in the concession for the electricity grid in Hamburg and will participate in the tender procedure. Veolia Wasser GmbH, Veolia Environnement S.A. (ENXTPA:VIE), E.ON Hanse AG, Vattenfall Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH as well as Braunschweiger Versorgungs-AG & Co. KG are among the interested parties. Alliander Ag has so far acted as a common bidder with Energienetz Hamburg eG, has now shown individual interest.

E.on Hanse to Build Large Combined Heat, Power Plant in Hamburg

E.on Hanse announced that it plans to build in Hamburg the biggest combined heat and power plant with a gas engine in northern Germany. The heat unit of E.on Hanse is to invest some EUR 7 million in the facility. The plant, with a power capacity of 9.5 MW, will be able to supply electricity to about 21,500 households and is thus five-time bigger than an average combined heat and power facility. Construction works are expected to start in March. The plant will also produce over 80 million kWh of heat.
