Nippon Life Insurance Company reported earnings results for the first three quarters of 2015. For the period, the company’s core profit rise by 16.0% to JPY 510.3 billion in the first three quarters of fiscal 2015. The company earned JPY 4,303.8 billion in premium revenue, up 16.9% year on year.

Nippon Life Mulls Acquisitions

Nippon Life Insurance Company intends to pursue acquisitions. The company is looking for ore overseas M&A opportunities as it seeks to increase its profits from global acquisitions to ¥100 billion by March 2025, Bloomberg News reported on January 13, 2106. Yoshinobu Tsutsui, Nippon Life's President, said in an interview that the company is looking for M&A opportunities in Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania. The company is also looking to purchase an asset management firm to expand its global platform. He expects more opportunities to acquire companies as financial institutions move away from insurance.

MET Mulls IPO Or Spinoff Of Part Of Life Insurance Business

MetLife, Inc. (NYSE:MET) is most likely to follow through on its plan to divest part of its life-insurance business through a spinoff or IPO, not a sale. Nippon Life Insurance Company could be the possible acquirer as it seems very interested in insurance companies.
