CEPSA Is Willing To Sell 'Non Strategic' Operations
Jan 28 15
Compañía Española de Petróleos, S.A.U. (CEPSA) is willing to sell its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) divisions in order to concentrate on other sectors where CEPSA has a stronger position, a spokesperson said on January 28, 2015. It confirmed CEPSA is in conversations with several other firms to sell those assets but negotiations are at an early stage. "Petrochemicals is an industry in which CEPSA wants to expand, but just in those sectors in which we are leaders or one of the leaders. Hence, we are interested in selling those parts of the petrochemical division without a strategic importance for the company," the spokesperson said. It added conversations are taking place with several companies to divest those assets but CEPSA would always make sure the potential buyers have a "sustainable and solvent" project for the facilities to be sold. The spokesperson added CEPSA will focus in those petrochemicals in which it already occupies a leading position, mentioning phenol and acetone.
