Royal London Group has appointed Toby Bainbridge as head of reinsurance, which is a new role in the group's intermediary division, based in Edinburgh. Bainbridge joins Royal London from Legal & General, where he was head of reinsurance for its insurance business. Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years at Munich Re working in a number of roles from underwriting to business development. He started his new role with Royal London at the beginning of April, with an immediate focus on improving the intermediary protection business's reinsurance management. Bainbridge will also manage two key teams: underwriting and claims philosophy, and underwriting rules development.

Royal London Group announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014 and company cash flows results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the year, on EEV basis, on consolidated basis, the company reported operating profit before tax from continuing operations and exceptional items of £220 million against £196 million a year ago.
