Bob Recchia has been named Chief Financial Officer at Crain Communications Inc. Recchia has more than 30 years of financial experience, most recently as executive vice president and CFO at Valassis Communications Inc. in Livonia. Recchia will lead Crain Communications' overall financials, budgets, business plans and revenue-building strategies. A graduate of Wayne State University and a former auditor at Deloitte, Recchia joined Valassis in 1982 as treasurer and became CFO in 1990. He oversaw all acquisitions and joint ventures, and was also responsible for developing Valassis' tax strategies and improving its debt structure during both private and public ownership. Crain Communications, Inc. Announces New Promotions

Brennan Lafferty, publisher of Plastics News, has been named a vice president of Crain Communications Inc. The board of directors of Crain announced the promotion on Dec. 17. The announcement the promotion will bring additional strength to the Crain executive team and is a recognition of the work he has done to grow the Plastics News brand. Lafferty also is head of the Crain Global Polymer Group brands in the United States and Europe. He has been publisher of Plastics News since July 2013. Prior to joining PN, he had been publisher of Waste & Recycling News since 2011. In addition, Julie Brown has been promoted to group audience development director for the Crain Global Polymer Group. She now will be supporting the Akron, Ohio-based Polymer Group publications: Tire Business and Rubber & Plastics News. This new management role will be in addition to her current management responsibilities for Plastics News, Plastics News China, Plastics News Europe, Plastics & Rubber Weekly, European Rubber Journal and Urethanes Technology.
