Prudential Asia announced unaudited earnings results for the six months ended June 30, 2015. For the period, operating profit increased by 17% to £632 million (20% on an actual exchange rate basis), driven by 15% growth in life businesses and 35% growth in Eastspring Investments, Asia asset management businesses (19% and 38% respectively on an actual exchange rate basis). Underlying free surplus generation grew by 16% to £356 million (18% on an actual exchange rate basis), reflecting continued disciplined new business growth and the increasing scale of in-force portfolio. Operating profit before tax was £574 million against £483 million a year ago.
