Matthew Hancock Announces the Appointment of Nigel Clifford as the New Chief Executive of Ordnance Survey

Business Minister Matthew Hancock on March 6, 2015 announced the appointment of Nigel Clifford as the new Chief Executive of the Ordnance Survey. Nigel will take up leadership of the £145 million turnover organisation in June 2015, bringing extensive experience of international software, telecoms and services including complex joint veture and public sector enterprises. This experience will be vital to OS in its role as Britain s mapping agency, whose accurate location-based data underpins key public and private sector functions. Nigel will also lead OS into a new era as a government-owned company and an exciting future of innovation and partnerships at the heart of the geospatial information sector.

Ordnance Survey appointed Nigel Clifford as the Chief Executive. Neil Ackroyd has been the Acting Chief Executive since April 2014, and will return to the role of Chief Operating Officer when Nigel takes up his post in June 2015. Nigel Clifford's previous roles include Chief Executive of Procserve Holdings Ltd. (February 2012 to present), Chief Executive of Micro Focus International (April 2010 to April 2011).

Ordnance Survey announced the appointment of two new Non-Executive Directors to the Board. Mrs. Anne Jessopp and Mr. Stephen Lake took up their appointments with effect from 10 December 2014. Anne has been Director of Business Services at the Royal Mint since 2008. Anne has experience of working in HR across a number of sectors, gaining manufacturing experience early in her career at Rolls Royce and Procter and Gamble. Anne has also gained consumer experience at Radio Rentals and RAC. Before joining the Royal Mint Anne was HR Director of an industrial services company and Remploy. Stephen is a specialist in business transformation, growth, strategy & finance. He has over 30 years of commercial experience in digital media and technology businesses, both as a senior corporate executive with Reuters and QinetiQ.
