Hensel Phelps Wins Contract from Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for Rail Yard and Maintenance Facility

Hensel Phelps has won a contract from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, or MWAA, to construct a rail yard and maintenance facility that will serve the DC metropolitan area's new Metrorail route, the Silver Line. This $253 million Rail Yard and Maintenance Facility will be located on the grounds of Washington Dulles International Airport in Loudoun County, Virginia. Construction will commence in early 2015. This will be Hensel Phelps' ninth project on Dulles Airport property. Additionally, this will be the third rail yard facility that Hensel Phelps' Mid Atlantic District has worked on in the past 10 years, having renovated the Greenbelt, Shady Grove and New Carrollton rail yards for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
Hensel Phelps Construction Co. Wins Sole Source Contract for Facility Operations for the Social Security Administration - National Support Center

Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has won a sole source contract for facility operations for the Social Security Administration, or SSA, - National Support Center, or NSC. Hensel Phelps is delivering 'Facility Life Solutions' for the SSA for the NSC project having completed their design-build services, the Hensel Phelps Services Group provided Transition to Stabilized Occupancy (TSO) services and under this contract Services Group are now providing 24x7x365 Operations and Maintenance services for this premier data center. The SSA-NSC project is a turn-key Design-Build contract for a 280,000 square foot of building space on 36 Acres which includes a 33,000 square foot 2 story Office Building and 6,900 square foot Facility Access Building. The primary 2-story precast panel DATA center is 244,000 square foot and holds a warehouse, Central Utility Plant, and white space that is large enough to fit a NFL football field inside. The Building will replace the 30-year old national computing center and becomes the SSA's primary data center. The project includes a number of sustainable features. It includes 4,200 Photovoltaic array modules set giving the facility 1 Megawatt DC and 0.77 Megawatt AC. The project also has six 25,000 gallon tanks providing water for energy efficiency heating and cooling systems. In addition, there are two 20,000 gallon rainwater harvesting cisterns for landscaping irrigation of low water use landscaping. Finally, the parking lot is made up of an eco-friendly pervious asphalt paving.
