Rest Devices, Inc. Announces Collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Innovation to Develop the First Personalized Baby Sleep Coaching System

Rest Devices, Inc. announced a collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. to develop the first smart, personal baby sleep coaching system. The app, called Nod, will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While the app will not be fully available until early Feb., parents can sign up on the site www.nodtosleep.com to be part of the upcoming beta program. The collaboration was facilitated by Johnson & Johnson Innovation. Around the world, improving baby sleep is a leading concern for parents. Rest Devices, Inc., through the Mimo Baby wearable monitor, and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., through its JOHNSON'S® BEDTIME® Baby Sleep App, have each studied hundreds of thousands of baby sleep patterns. By combining expert coaching and analytics in one app, the collaboration intends to provide parents with an advanced sleep coaching system that helps parents get their babies to sleep better. Nod will first learn parents' goals, behaviors, and routines for their baby's sleep, then will create customized sleep advice for each baby based on clinically-validated behavioral techniques developed by pediatric sleep experts including Jodi Mindell, Ph.D. Nod will launch early Feb. on iOS and Android devices.

McNeil-PPC Inc. Agrees to Pay $25 million Under Criminal Resolution

McNeil-PPC Inc. pled guilty to a single count of an information alleging the firm with supplying for introduction into interstate commerce contaminated infants' and children's liquid over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Under the criminal resolution, McNeil will pay a criminal penalty of $20 million and forfeit $5 million. A lawsuit was filed against the company in federal court in Philadelphia alleging that it had delivered for introduction into interstate commerce infants' and children's liquid OTC medicines that were adulterated. Federal officials said the infants' and children's liquid drugs were contaminated as they were not produced, processed, packaged or held in line with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), in breach of the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). In addition to the company's guilty plea, McNeil continues to be subject to a permanent injunction passed by the U.S. District Court in 2011, asking the company, among other things, to take remedial steps before reopening its production plant in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania.
