PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (JKSE:FREN) and PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk (JKSE:BTEL) are considering a plan to merge into a single entity, said Imanuddin Kencana Putra, Director of Bakrie Telecom. According to Investor Daily, Muhammad Budi Setiawan, Director General of post and informatics resources at the Information and Communication Technology Ministry, said he has received the merger proposal from the companies.
NQ Mobile Enters Preload Agreement with PT Smartfren Telecom

NQ Mobile has entered a preload agreement with PT Smartfren Telecom. The deal broadens distribution of NQ Mobile's privacy and security apps through pre-installation on Smartfren's Android smartphones and in the Smartfren Appstore. NQ Mobile Security will be available from Smartfren under the name Smartshield. Smartfren began preinstallation of Smartshield and NQ Mobile's privacy app on new devices in early March.
Smartfren to Allocate $100 Million to Finance Expansion

Smartfren is allocating USD 100 million to finance expansion. The company hopes to add 4 to 5 million new subscribers in 2014 by bundling services with its Andromax smartphones. The company ended 2013 with 11 million subscribers. Smartfren also plans to erect 1,500 new base stations over the next two years to bring its total to 6.000. The operator recently introduced two new smartphones: the Smartfren Andromax U3 and Andromax V. The U3 is priced at IDR 2.099 million while the V costs IDR 2.199.
