Virgin Australia Holdings Limited announced unaudited group earnings and operating results for the first half ended December 31, 2016. For the period, underlying profit before tax was AUD 42.3 million, statutory loss after tax was AUD 21.5 million, Group revenue was AUD 2,633.7 million, Group underlying EBIT was AUD 127.7 million and net debt was AUD 1,169.8 million against underlying profit before tax of AUD 81.5 million, statutory profit after tax of AUD 62.5 million, Group revenue of AUD 2,658.2 million, Group underlying EBIT of AUD 161.4 million and net debt of AUD 2,106.1 million for the same period a year ago. Cash generated from operating activities was AUD 143.5 million against AUD 98.2 million a year ago. Revenue results were largely driven by subdued trading conditions in the domestic market. The group reported a statutory loss after tax which includes the impact of restructuring charges from the implementation of Better Business initiatives, with the majority of charges related to fleet simplification.
