Steve Nash Files a Lawsuit against SNFW Fitness B.C. Ltd Claiming Breach of Contract

A company being sued by Steve Nash announced it has the right to use the former NBA star's name in the operation of 21 fitness facilities around B.C. Nash filed a lawsuit claiming that there had been a breach of contract between his company, B L Holdings Inc. and SNFW Fitness B.C. Ltd, which runs the clubs. He wants an injunction that would prevent SNFW from using his name or image in the future and is also seeking an award of unspecified damages. SNFW said it had not yet been served with Nash's notice of civil claim, which was filed Oct. 14 in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver. In the lawsuit, Nash's company said that since October 2014, SNFW has continued to operate fitness facilities throughout B.C. without compensating him for the use of his name to promote the businesses. He said in that time he has not had any involvement with the operation of the fitness facilities, has not been on the board of directors of SNFW and has not signed an affidavit certifying that he endorses the fitness facilities in any way. Also named as defendants in the lawsuit are Nash's former business partners Mark Mastrov, the owner of the NBA Sacramento Kings, and Montreal businessman Leonard Schlemm.
