Fokker Services and Research Frontiers Launch New SPD-Smart Product at Mro Europe
Oct 21 16
Fokker Services, a division of GKN Aerospace, launched "Element EDW," a new electronically dimmable window system for commercial airliners. Developed in collaboration with Research Frontiers Inc. licensee InspecTech Aero Service, this "smart transparency" controls and manages both beneficial and undesirable outside elements coming into aircraft cabins through passenger windows. Fokker's SPD-Smart Element EDW dramatically improves the airline passenger experience, for all on board, by instantly and precisely managing the optimum amount of healthy daylight for passenger comfort and well-being, and rejecting uncomfortable heat and noise. The lightweight EDW has no moving parts and replaces components including window shades, "scratch panes" and other parts that require high maintenance. This week at the GKN/Fokker MRO Europe booth, Fokker unveiled an Element EDW product designed for retrofit installation on airlines' single-aisle and dual-aisle aircraft that are in-service. The company indicated they are planning first delivery of the product in third quarter of 2017.

Fokker Signs Contract to Co-Operate with COMAC in Bringing the First Chinese Business Jet to Market
Jun 15 15
Fokker Services announced it has entered into a contract with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd, COMAC, to convert the ARJ21700 regional jet into a high end business jet. The conversion will be developed by Fokker and COMAC in The Netherlands, while the final conversion and delivery center will be performed at COMAC's manufacturing division, Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Company Ltd. (SAMC) in Shanghai. Converting a regional aircraft into a business jet builds upon Fokker Services long time expertise in similar conversions of regional aircraft such as Fokker F28, F70 and Bombardier CRJ700. Such conversions fit extremely well with Fokker's aircraft expertise which involves more than interior conversion alone. Fokker Services continues to create a reputation for providing very high quality conversions also for ACJ and BBJ aircraft.
