Rakuten Kobo Launches Kobo Glo HD in Japan

Rakuten Kobo released its new eReader, the Kobo Glo HD, in Japan. The device is available for purchase from the Rakuten Kobo eBook Store and selected online and offline retail stores in Japan. The price of the device is JPN 12,800 (including tax). Globally announced in April, and already available in North American and European markets, the Kobo Glo HD features a high resolution Carta E Ink HD touch screen and compact 6-inch design.

Kobo Partners with Lionfish to Make eReading Devices Available in G.C.C. Region

Kobo and Lionfish announced the arrival of Kobo's digital reading platform to the G.C.C. region. With a variety of eReaders to choose from - Kobo Touch, Kobo Aura and the recently launched waterproof Kobo Aura H2O - there's an option that is sure to delight any booklover on holiday wish lists this year. Starting on December 7, 2014, Kobo will be available in 34 stores in the G.C.C. region in the Dubai Duty Free Stores, Virgin Megastores and Xcite. Kobo eReading devices will also be available for purchase online at Modvito, Souq.com and Jado Pado. Lionfish General Trading will be managing all facets of Kobo's presence in G.C.C. countries including distribution, retail partner relations, marketing and customer care.

Sony Electronics Selects Kobo to Provide Sony's Reader and Sony's Xperia Tablet and Smartphone Users in the United States and Canada with Kobo's Catalogue

Sony Electronics announced that Kobo will provide Sony's Reader and Sony's Xperia tablet and smartphone users in the United States and Canada with Kobo's catalogue of more than 4 million eBooks, magazines and newspapers, graphic novels, and kids content. Sony's Reader Store customers and their current eBook libraries will transfer to the Kobo ecosystem starting in late March. Reader Store customers will be able to take advantage of Kobo's new dedicated Kids Store and magazine experience, and have full access to purchase the most popular bestsellers. The free, top-ranking Kobo App for Android will be pre-loaded on select Sony Xperia smartphones and tablets. Timing and availability may vary by market and carrier. Sony's WiFi Reader will also harness the wide variety of content available via the Kobo eBookstore. Sony's current Reader Store customers in the US and Canada will have access to the Kobo eBookstore starting in late March via a simple and easy migration process, and Sony's Reader Store will close in late March. Reader Store customers will receive an email from Sony with instructions on how to easily transfer their library to a Kobo account. Until that time, Sony's customers can continue to purchase eBooks from Sony's Reader Store.
