Renaissance Capital announced that Temi Popoola has been appointed CEO for Nigeria. In his new role, Mr. Popoola will focus on equities and growing the investment banking side of the business, as well as overseeing a 25- strong team in Lagos. He will report to Igor Vayn, CEO, Renaissance Capital, and Ruslan Babaev, Chief Business Officer, with additional reporting lines to Ben Samuels, Global Head of Equities, and James Friel, Global Head of Investment Banking. Mr. Popoola joined Renaissance Capital in July 2015 and has been working closely with the sales team, traders and research analysts both locally and across the Firms network of offices to drive the Nigerian equities business. He has over 13 years of international experience in equities and derivatives in emerging markets.

Renaissance Capital announced audited financial results for the six months ended June 30, 2015. For the period, net profit increased by 20.8% to $10.5 million compared with $8.7 million in first half of 2014. The firm delivered strong revenues from its core businesses, including global markets, which showed a solid performance led by particularly strong growth in Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC), despite headwinds.

Renaissance Capital announced a series of promotions and an appointment in its award-winning global research team. Michael Harris, previously Head of Turkish Equity Strategy, will lead Renaissance Capitals research team as Global Head of Research. He joined the firm in 2014 and led Renaissance Capital to the top ranking for Turkish Strategy in the 2015 Institutional Investor survey. David Ferguson will become Deputy Head of Research. David has been with the firm for six years, and has successfully built multi-sector coverage of high-growth sectors and companies in the EMEA region as Head of Consumer, Media and IT. The Firm has also appointed Francois du Toit as an Insurance Analyst in Renaissance Capitals Johannesburg office, starting on 1 October 2015. Francois will report locally to Johann Pretorius, Director, Head of Metals and Mining Research, and globally to Michael Harris, the Global Head of Research. Francois joins Renaissance Capital from JP Morgan, where he has worked as an Executive Director and Equity Research Analyst covering the South African life and insurance sectors for over 7 years.
