Vodafone UK Announces Network Investment in Southampton
May 26 15
Vodafone UK has announced a multi-million pound investment in Southampton to extend its 3G and 4G mobile coverage to over 98% of the city's population. The operator writes that as a consequence of recent network improvements for better indoor and outdoor coverage, mobile data traffic in Southampton has already rocketed, with customers are using over 1 TB of data every day, on average. The majority of data usage spikes in the area appear to be sport related, with the equivalent data usage of 80,000 hours of web browsing on the day of the recent Southampton Half Marathon. The upgrade forms part of Vodafone's approximately GBP 2 billion nationwide network and service investment across 2014 and 2015.
