Vodafone UK to Launch Home Broadband Services in June 2015

Vodafone UK has confirmed that it will launch home broadband services in June 2015, followed by pay TV later this year 2015. The home broadband service will begin regionally, with a national rollout during the summer. The service will use a small STB allowing viewers to flick menus and channels, and to store content on Vodafone's servers.

Vodafone UK reported earnings results for the fiscal second half year ended March 2015. For the period, the company reported revenue up 1.1% to GBP 3.32 billion compared with GBP 3.09 billion a year earlier. EBITDA fell 16.8% to GBP 715 million amid a rise in operating costs. In the last quarter of the fiscal year, service revenue increased by 0.6% year-on-year to GBP 1.61 billion, led by higher mobile in-bundle revenues and helped by the acquisition of the C&W activities. Capex rose to GBP 598 million in fiscal second half from GBP 581 million a year earlier.
Vodafone UK Launches Two Smart Branded Phones, Tablet

Vodafone UK has launched three low-cost, own-brand mobile devices: the Smart First 6 and Smart Prime 6 phones and the Smart Tab Prime tablet. The First is a 4-in smart phone built around a 1 GHz dual-core processor, with a 2 Megapixel camera, 4 GB of storage and runs Android 4.4 Kit Kat. It sells for GBP 40 on a prepaid tariff. The Prime has a 5-in HD display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 2-in front camera, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage plus a microSD slot, and LTE. It sells for GBP 90 on prepaid. Tab Prime features a 9.6-in HD display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 16 GB of storage, microSD slot and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is available on prepaid and is free on postpaid bundles starting at GBP 21.
