Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization and iBIO Institute Appoint Warren Ribley as President & CEO

The Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization and its affiliate, the iBIO Institute announced that Warren Ribley has been named President & CEO of both organizations. He will assume his new responsibilities at the beginning of February 2015. Appointed to lead the Illinois Medical District in April of 2012, Ribley is widely credited with revitalizing the District and attracting new tenants and life sciences developments, including the University of Illinois’ Health Technology Innovation center (HTI). Ribley succeeds outgoing iBIO and iBIO Institute President & CEO, David Miller, who has led the iBIO organizations for over twelve years and last year announced his plans to retire in early 2015.

Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization Announces Board Appointments

The Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization (iBIO) announced the election of new additions to its board of directors. The new Board members, who include senior executives, policy, and investment experts from globally recognized corporations, add depth and prestige to an already-strong lineup of medical, agricultural, and industrial biotech representation. Joining iBIO’s board are Daniel Brennan of Lundbeck US, Jamie Oldani of Eli Lilly, Susanne Resatz of Vetter Development Services USA and Geeta Vemuri of Baxter Ventures. Daniel Brennan is vice president and general manager of Neurology and Business Development for Lundbeck US. Jamie Oldani serves as the Midwest Director of State Government Affairs for Eli Lilly and Company. Susanne Resatz, Ph.D., President of Vetter Development Services USA Inc., heads Vetter’s clinical manufacturing facility in suburban Chicago, Illinois. Geeta Vemuri joined Baxter in January 2012 as Vice President, Head of Baxter Ventures, the corporation's $200 million venture fund.

Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization Announces Management Appointments

The Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization (iBIO) has announced the election of Andy Hull as chairman of the iBIO Board of Directors, and the election of Linda Friedman, as chairperson of the iBIO Institute Board of Directors. As Vice President of Global Alliance Management for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Hull is responsible for maximizing the success of Takeda's growing number of commercial and research and development partnerships. Hull has substantial experience in the biotech industry, with a focus on marketing, commercial development and partnerships. Before joining Takeda in 2002, Hull worked at Immunex as a Vice President of Specialty Therapeutics Marketing and at Abbott Laboratories in sales and marketing. Linda Friedman has been with Astellas US LLC and its predecessor companies since 1993. As Senior Vice President and General Counsel, she is responsible for legal, compliance, and internal audit for the Americas region, along with intellectual property for the U.S. Friedman has been a member of the Board of Directors for two years and has been a strong supporter of PROPEL and EDUCATE. She has been an active member of the PhRMA law section and chaired the Law Section Executive Committee in 2006-2007. iBIO also named Joe Nolan, chief commercial officer of Lundbeck Inc. as vice chair of human health; and Robb Leming, senior finance manager - Heartland Business Unit of DuPont Pioneer, as vice chairman for food and agriculture. iBIO also elected as new board members Percival Barretto-Ko, senior vice president of corporate strategy and government affairs, Astellas US; and Claudia Roth, PhD, president of Vetter Development Services USA Inc.
