David Jones reported earnings results for the half year to December 2015. Sales rose 11.2% in the half year to December, while those in comparable stores grew 9.7%. But higher store costs and restructuring weighed on the department store's operating profit, which at $104 million in the six months to December was weaker than $107 million in the five months to December 2014.

David Jones Financial Services reported earnings results for the eleven months ended June 30, 2015. The results of David Jones for the eleven months from the acquisition date of 1 August 2014 are included for the first time and consequently no comparative figures are presented. Whilst the Australian consumer has remained under pressure and the department store segment has underperformed, the company had an exceptional second half of the year with sales growth of 10.7%. Sales of AUD 1,885 million were 6.4% ahead of the comparative 11-month period prior to acquisition and ahead of both the department store segment and the overall Australian clothing market. Operating profit of AUD 161 million was 28.8% higher than in the comparative 11-month period.
