CBI Appoints Angela Mcgowan as New Director for CBI Northern Ireland

The CBI has announced that Angela McGowan has been appointed as its new Northern Ireland Director, and will succeed the retiring Director, Nigel Smyth, after 26 years of service. Angela will head up the CBIs Northern Ireland office and represent the UKs business organizations Northern Ireland members with government, policy makers and other key stakeholders including the social partners and other business bodies - such as Ibec where have a strategic relationship through the Joint Business Council. Angela joins the CBI from Danske Bank UK where she has been the Chief Economist since 2008. She provides analysis, commentary and insights into Northern Ireland, UK and global economic trends, and provides a range of reports and media commentary on issues impacting on the local economy. Angela previously worked as the senior economist at the Economic Research Institute NI (2004-7) and the Northern Ireland Economic Council (2001-04), and has a strong background in public policy research and analysis. She will be joining the CBI on 1 October, 2016.

With an extensive background in business strategy, marketing, growth and change management, Henrietta will join Confederation of British Industry early 2016. She will be responsible for developing the groups membership proposition, leading the CBIs regional teams across the country, and creating new member services with a focus on supporting and enabling businesses to grow. Henrietta has held a number of senior marketing roles at a number of international blue-chip firms, spanning a variety of sectors from food, retail, professional and financial services, including at Schroders, Advent International, United Biscuits and Nestle. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In 2004, she became Group Head of Marketing and Investor Relations at Schroders, followed in 2008 by Group Head of Marketing at the private equity firm Advent International. She will form part of the CBIs new senior management team, reporting directly to Director-General Carolyn Fairbairn. The CBI recently announced the appointment of Josh Hardie into the newly created role of Managing Director, Policy and Campaigns. Josh will join the CBI early in 2016 from Tesco where he has been Group Director for Corporate Responsibility.
